Laser!

Its not often you get to play with a 100mw laser so I had to get the Nikon out and have a play... Didnt have the tripod with me so this shot was hand held...

Several weeks ago I entered a picture into the Digital SLR Photgraphy Magazine's Photo Excellence 2008 Awards and would you believe it I recieved a letter today telling me my entry had been graded as a Distinction.

Distinction : An Image that exhibits the highest standard in terms of a creative eye and interpretation of theme, as well as superb technical skills. Quite simply, one of the best submissions we have recieved and a strong contender for one of the monthly prizes.

I have to say I have no idea how many people will have recieved this but I am over the moon to say the least. Find out more about the competition and magazine at http://www.digitalslrphoto.com/

Learning Curve.

Here is one of my first pictures taken with my Nikon, Unfortunatly I used a high ISO and the picture is quite noisy. It has annoyed me because I love this picture and I can almost guarantee that this shot will not happen again. So as for the heading of todays blog, I will be checking in future..

Woodland!

Living close to the Royal forest of Salcey in Northamptonshire often gives me inspiration. Heres one I did a while back. B&W certainly made this picture.

Two Minutes after taking this the storm rolled in and I was soaked.

Is it just me or is there always something else you need for photography, another stand, another strobe, another lens etc etc... It must be the same for other creative activities I assume but maybe not at the same cost! Watching the Joe McNally Video today on strobist has assured me that I need several more Speedlights! Watching the Reverie video on vincent laforet's blog has meant I desperatly require a 5d Mk2 and some of the clips on Chase Jarvis's Blog, well lets just say if the cuboard wasnt bare before hand it would be now!

A Picture to start...

I took this at The Cotswold Wildlife Park a couple of weeks ago, Even though the eye are is very dark I love the picture. I cant put my finger on the reason why but I cant help wondering what this Meerkat was thinking!
